TOTAL vessels to join BOURBON smart shipping programme

The PSVs in the programme will be from the BOURBON Explorer 500 series of vessels

BOURBON and SONASURF have announced a three-year cooperation agreement with TOTAL in Angola to implement a ‘smart shipping’ programme on five supply vessels from the Bourbon Explorer 500 series.

Under the programme, the DP2-equipped PSVs, which operate on blocks 17 and 32 off the Angolan coast, will implement digital technologies to simplify organisation on board and transfer functions that are currently carried out on board to shore.

BOURBON says that the smart shipping programme is based on three pillars – building an operational model aboard the vessel, running predictive maintenance, and providing decision support from onshore operational centres.

“This new mode of vessel operation enables us to meet the challenge of controlling costs in the current time of recovering activity,” said Ivelino Do Nascimento, Sonasurf Operations Manager.

“We are very happy to have been able to move forward in collaborative mode with TOTAL on this deployment project in Angola.”
