NSC-Group extends VSAT deal

Shipmanager NSC-Group has signed an extension to its contract with Marlink for the provision of VSAT services to its fleet of approximately 40 vessels, the companies report.

The VSAT service, with L-band back-up, is supported by Marlink’s XChange Power communications management system and applications such as SkyFile Mail for e-mail and SkyFile AntiVirus.

Under the new agreement, NSC-Group will also trial a range of new applications on its fleet of containerships, multi-purpose carriers, bulkers, con-bulkers, car carriers and tankers, including XChange Cloud Premium for fleet file sharing, and the IT-Link remote monitoring tool.

“Our experience using Marlink VSAT with the XChange management system has demonstrated the benefits of reliable, high throughput connections to our digitalised operations, and now we are ready to take the next step,” said Patrick Schulz-Hentschel, Head of IT department, NSC-Group.

“Our plans for leveraging Cloud-based data services and remote updating of PC networks for compliance means we can improve service to our clients, as well as keep our crews happy.”
