CMA CGM to offer data to customers to support ‘green’ choices

Container carrier CMA CGM has launched a new ‘ACT with CMA CGM+’ programme, a package of services to allow customers to analyse, reduce and offset the environmental footprint of the transport of their cargo.

The company’s new ECO MONITOR system, to be rolled out in 2021, will give customers the ability to keep track of the environmental footprint of their transport choices in real time, allowing them to make choices and decisions based on the data provided.

This will be combined with a POSITIVE OFFSET service allowing users to offset their emissions by contributing to carbon sequestration projects involving local communities.

CMA CGM customers will be able to use the information provided within these systems to choose container ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) if they wish to avail of a ‘cleaner’ option, with the container carrier having committed to moving 26 container vessels to LNG fuel by 2022. Seven of these ships are already in service.

“The CMA CGM Group has always considered its business performance as intrinsically linked to its social and environmental performance,” said Marc Bourdon, Senior Vice-President, Commercial and Agencies Networks, CMA CGM Group.

“We have made ground-breaking decisions advancing the shift to cleaner energy and helping push the whole industry forward. Through ACT with CMA CGM+, we are sharing our energy transition solutions for shipping and providing our customers with effective solutions.”
