Marine data quality tackled in new ABS guidance

ABS has published two new guidance documents on improving data quality within the marine and offshore industries, available free for download.

Advisory on Data Quality for Marine and Offshore Application − Transactional Data sets out a suggested systematic data quality assurance and control methodology that can be used to assess and continuously improve transactional data quality.

Together with the other guidance document, Advisory on Data Quality for Marine and Offshore Application – Time Series Data, ABS says that the publications provide a comprehensive framework for data quality assessment, monitoring, and enhancement in marine and offshore applications, offering an adaptable data quality management process built upon ISO 8000-61 and ISO 14224.

“High-quality data is the essential ingredient for high-quality analytics. As the marine and offshore industries have entered an era of digital transformation, managing data quality is a vital component of a data-driven analytics journey,” said Patrick Ryan, ABS Senior Vice President, Global Engineering and Technology.
