China’s Beibu Gulf Port Group (BGPG) is to implement a terminal operating system (TOS) from Korean company CyberLogitec at its new Qinzhou greenfield terminal, featuring a range of new technologies to handle automated operations.
The terminal is expected to be operational by mid-2022 and, once completed, will be the first Sea-Rail terminal in the country and the fifth fully automated container terminal in Mainland China, with an annual capacity of 5 million TEU.
To manage automated container handling, BGPG required specific types of terminal operating system (TOS) and equipment control system (ECS) software to be developed, supporting intelligent slider OCR (optical character recognitions) and security infrastructure, as well as incorporating positioning navigation and neural network technologies for guided vehicles.
CyberLogitec will work in cooperation with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC), one of the world’s largest crane manufacturers, in building the systems for BGPG to create its ‘smart port’.
“The agreement with BGPG is another important step in our growth within China,” said Young Kyu Song, CyberLogitec’s CEO.
“It is a great significance for CyberLogitec to have the first reference site of a fully automated container terminal in China. Based on the latest technology, CyberLogitec plans to implement a successful terminal operating system for BGPG automated Qinzhou terminal.”
