Navarino launches unified corporate comms app

Maritime satcom service provider Navarino has launched a new unified corporate communications application available for both smartphones and desktops, called Waavia 7.

The software combines real-time corporate communications within a single platform that can connect every member of an organisation, whether they are working in an office or at a remote location.

The system allows ship operators to establish a company-wide instant messaging and communications network that offers complete control over company data. The technology can be rolled out to an entire organisation with a few clicks, regardless of the existing connectivity setup.

Waavia 7 also offers a Visitor Mode for when visitors attend a vessel, allowing third parties to join selected messaging groups to communicate with vessels they attend. All data exchanged with these visitors on the platform remains under the control of the ship operator.

The application offers low bandwidth video calling that Navarino says has been tested over high latency satellite networks, and can also be linked with smart glasses to connect onshore experts with those at sea for remote inspections and troubleshooting.
