KVH has introduced two new value-added services for the commercial maritime market, to deliver cloud-based vessel email and improved cyber threat management.
KVH Managed Firewall will provide Fortinet cybersecurity protocols to vessels requiring an enhanced level of protection, designed to complement the terminal-level security found in the company’s antennas.
The AC-powered belowdecks unit offers firewalls, basic routing, SD-WAN functionality, application-level controls, IPSEC/SSL VPN capabilities, intrusion detection and prevention, malware protection, web and application filtering, and antispam capabilities.
The KVH Cloud Email Service stores emails in a cloud-based mailbox with 10 GB storage per user, automatically blocking spam and malware. Fleet ICT departments can use tools within the KVH Manager website to set up user accounts for each vessel and crew member, manage user access, and monitor data usage.
The service supports major email clients using IMAP, POP, and SMTP, and is available for a single monthly subscription per fleet.
“The introduction of these two value-added services, KVH Managed Firewall and Cloud Email, reflect KVH’s ongoing commitment to bringing new features and options to our customers,” said Mark Woodhead, KVH’s Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
“Integrated seamlessly with our innovative TracNet and TracPhone systems, these services offer new benefits and expanded capabilities to improve shipboard operations, fleet efficiency, and crew wellbeing.”
