Shell extends voyage optimisation software deal

Shell International Trading & Shipping Company (STASCO) has extended its fuel and voyage optimisation partnership with Blue Water Trade Winds for an additional three years, the companies have announced.

STASCO has been using Blue Water’s BOSS voyage planning application for its Crude and Products Time Charter Fleet for the past five years. The new agreement covers an initial three-year extension, with the option of extending for another year.

Shell is also currently in the process of rolling out the ‘BOSS for LNG’ application across its LNG Time Charter fleet, following a benchmarking and trial process. This agreement will also be for a period of three years, with the option to extend by another year.

“The renewal of our contract, to serve a larger fleet in the coming years, is a testament to the success of BOSS,’’ said Captain Kumaresh Gupta, founder and Managing Director of Blue Water.

“The BOSS team remain indebted to Shell for its help in developing such an advanced system.’’

India-based Blue Water Trade Winds provides voyage and fuel optimisation services to approximately 780 vessels.
