Port Houston connects with Portchain

Port Houston has joined the Portchain Connect network, with the goal of using Portchain’s technology to increase the quality of berth alignment through digital handshakes and secure data sharing with port users.

The software will allow Port Houston to receive real-time schedule and move count updates directly from carriers’ systems, to respond and counter propose alternatives where required to align vessel schedules with the terminal berth plan.

Port Houston has also integrated its berth plan with the Portchain system to fully automate data transfer and allow for instant update and notification to carriers of berth schedule changes.

“Port Houston has a strategic objective to enhance efficiency and resilience through innovative technology. We are excited to improve our berth alignment and collaboration with our customers,” said Mike Shaffner, Director Operations Planning and Technology, Port Houston.

“The automated data exchange and digital collaboration saves time and effort and improves the berth scheduling process.”
