CSM to roll out mobile app for crew data gathering

Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM) has agreed a deal to deploy new software tools from Kaiko Systems to organise and analyse its ship data, to better understand the condition of its vessels and identify risks before they result in incidents.

Kaiko Systems’ mobile-first platform allows seafarers to gather and input data directly at source, reducing the need for additional documentation and reporting. The app guides seafarers through inspections and provides on-the-job guidance to collect data such as pictures and the results of functionality checks.

CSM’s crew will utilise the app to plan, document and report maintenance and inspection activities on board the company’s ships, to assist in managing safety, PSC readiness, vessel condition improvements and regulatory compliance.

“The integration of Kaiko Systems’ technology elevates our operational efficiencies to new levels, providing real-time insights into vessel condition,” said Mark O’Neil, Columbia Group CEO.

“This not only drastically improves performance but also reinforces our commitment to regulatory compliance and safety standards.”
