QTerminals to deploy Portchain at Hamad Port

Port and terminal operator QTerminals has agreed a deal to join the Portchain Connect network, to improve digital processes during operations at Hamad Port.

Launched in 2016, Hamad Port is QTerminals’ flagship facility, located south of Doha and one of Qatar’s largest greenfield infrastructure projects. It consists of Container Terminal 1 (CT1), Container Terminal 2 (CT2), a General Cargo Terminal, a Multi-Use Terminal and an Offshore Supply Terminal.

The facility will use the Portchain system to increase the quality and speed of berth alignment through digital handshakes and data sharing with visiting vessels.

The software will enable Hamad Port to receive a real-time schedule and move count updates directly from carrier systems to enable staff to respond and counter-propose alternative options, to align the vessel schedule with the terminal berth plan.

“We are excited to work with QTerminals and help them drive efficiencies in their berth alignment process by facilitating streamlined data exchange for their Hamad Port operations,” said Thor Thorup, CCO and Co-Founder at Portchain.

“We look forward to continuing our collaboration and continuously improving the platform based on user feedback.”
