VPS bought by Ascenz Marorka parent GTT

French firm GTT, parent company of maritime software provider Ascenz Marorka, has announced the acquisition of the Danish company VPS (Vessel Performance Solutions), a specialist in vessel performance management.

Founded in 2014, VPS is based in Copenhagen, with an additional sales office in Athens. The company employs 12 members of staff.

This acquisition aims to add to the Group’s range of software system based on the analysis of operational data from vessels without the need to add data acquisition systems or sensors on board. Approximately 1,200 ships use the various systems offered by VPS, including its flagship software VESPER.

The deal is the latest in a string of company purchases in the vessel software arena by GTT, with Ascenz Marorka itself the result of the merger of two companies, Ascenz of Singapore and Marorka of Iceland, after they were acquired by GTT Group in 2017 and 2020 respectively.
