MOL Plus invests in maritime software firm ZABoooN

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), through its MOL Plus venture arm, has agreed a deal to invest in ZABoooN, a Japanese developer of digital ship management platforms.

ZABoooN’s MARITIME 7 cloud-based service is designed to address issues in a range of areas, including seafarer labour management where it can be used for management of working hours for seafarers in accordance with Japan’s revised Mariners Act.

The software also provides visualisation of vessel AIS data, with operational history data, to support fleet planning, and offers ship equipment inventory, ordering, and delivery management capabilities.

A variety of reports coming from different vessels can be centralised and visualised within the platform dashboards, to provide shore-based staff with an overview of performance.

MARITIME 7 is already in use by several MOL Group companies for ship management and operating management, with the firms now working on joint development of new functions for the software alongside other ZABoooN stakeholders to expand the market for the application beyond coastal vessels.
