Reefer carrier Seatrade has rolled out the Tilla Technologies platform across the majority of its 52-vessel fleet following a successful pilot in late 2024, to streamline its crew change planning processes.
The company, which operates primarily between Europe, North America, and Latin America, will use the system to support crew management operations involving personnel from Russia and the Philippines. Crewing activities are coordinated from offices in Vladivostok, Manila, and Groningen.
Seatrade says that the pilot demonstrated the potential to cut crewing costs by a double-digit percentage while saving up to one hour per day for each crew operator.
Tilla’s platform integrates vessel schedules, port agency data, crewing information, flight connections, and travel requirements to assist users in automating crew change planning, booking and notifications.
The platform connects with 15 travel agencies as well as existing crew management systems, with the aim of covering the full crew change process from planning to invoice handling.
“Tilla quickly convinced us with both its measurable efficiency gains and its ease of use. We particularly appreciate the transparency the platform gives us in all planning and cost processes,” said Kor Wormmeester, Manager Crewing at Seatrade.
“This is a big difference to the traditional system, where crew changes are handled by travel agencies with sometimes opaque cost structures and little insight into optimisation potential.”
