DNV has spun off its DNV Maritime Software division to launch a new independent brand called CFARER, as it looks to expand the development of the business.
The new brand has been established with DNV as the majority owner and Wilhelmsen Port Services joining as a strategic partner. The collaboration will see the ‘Always on Board’ port clearance application from diize, part of the Wilhelmsen group, integrated into the CFARER portfolio.
CFARER says it will continue to focus on software to manage safety, performance, and compliance, building on the legacy of DNV’s existing tools while operating as a standalone entity.
The portfolio of existing applications the new firm brings with it includes ShipManager, a system covering technical operations, procurement, crewing, QHSE, dry-docking, and analytics; Navigator Port, a digital assistant for standardised port clearance and real-time port intelligence; and Hull Manager, a structural assessment and maintenance planning tool.
CFARER says that it will explore additional collaborations in the months ahead as it expands its offering.
