Kongsberg Discovery acquires Argeo underwater sensor tech

Kongsberg Discovery has agreed a deal with Argeo’s bankruptcy estate to acquire three core technologies – Argeo Whisper, Argeo Listen and Argeo Scope – strengthening its capabilities in the detection and interpretation of underwater environments.

The acquisition includes electromagnetic sensors, software, and a team of personnel that will be integrated into Kongsberg Discovery.

“Argeo Whisper and Argeo Listen expand our portfolio with active and passive electromagnetic sensing, while Argeo Scope will enhance our Blue Insight analytics platform with automated dataflow and ocean data visualisation,” said President Martin Wien Fjell of Kongsberg Discovery.

The transfer of IP, software and hardware is underway, the company says, along with the integration of Argeo personnel.

Argeo had developed software for automatic collection, processing and visualisation of sensor data from autonomous platforms, which will be integrated with Kongsberg Discovery’s Blue Insight digital system.
