Robosys Automation has agreed a deal with the University of Plymouth in the UK to supply its VOYAGER AI autonomous navigation system for integration on a C-Enduro unmanned surface vessel (USV).
The vessel, named Bauza, will be used by the University for hydrographic and oceanographic survey and training. The project forms part of a UK Royal Navy contract awarded to the University to deliver the C-Enduro platform, which will be equipped with Robosys’ autonomy technology for over-the-horizon data gathering operations.
VOYAGER AI provides mission planning and situational awareness tools including radar, AIS and chart overlays, while also offering autopilot functions such as routing, waypoints, and collision avoidance.
Robosys will also supply its recently launched remote control waistpack, allowing full wireless vessel operation from a mother vessel or shore base and switchable with the University’s Remote Operations Centre.
“With Plymouth recently named the National Centre for Marine Autonomy, the University is driving significant advances in the innovative applications of this technology,” said Professor Chris Fogwill, Executive Dean of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth.
“The VOYAGER system is proven globally as being reliable and robust, and Robosys’ continued development of the platform will deliver multiple benefits as we evolve and enhance our marine autonomy fleet.”
Integration of the VOYAGER AI system on the University’s C-Enduro USV is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.
