OrbitMI buys Gale Force in latest acquisition

OrbitMI has acquired Swedish-Norwegian advisory firm Gale Force, adding new voyage optimisation and compliance expertise to its maritime software platform.

Gale Force provides route planning, emissions reporting, and performance monitoring services, combining analytics with input from marine meteorologists. Its tools cover regulatory requirements including IMO DCS, EU MRV and CII, and can be integrated with existing shipboard systems.

The deal follows OrbitMI’s acquisition of AI specialist AuQub in July, which aimed to accelerate the use of machine learning within Orbit’s workflows. The company says the combination of Gale Force’s operational insight with AuQub’s technology will allow it to deliver more actionable intelligence within its platform.

“We’re building more than a platform, we’re building a partner in maritime decision-making,” said Ali Riaz, CEO of OrbitMI.

“Bringing Gale Force into the OrbitMI family allows us to embed critical advisory services directly into daily workflows, helping our clients move from insight to action even faster.”

Gale Force founder Tom Sandberg and his team will join OrbitMI as part of the acquisition.
