Evallic has agreed a deal to acquire a stake in Swedish satellite communications company Requtech, a move that brings the group into the maritime satcom market.
Requtech develops electronically scanned phased array (RESA) terminals, approved by satellite operators including Intelsat, designed to deliver connectivity across multi-orbit networks. The systems are suitable for mobile applications at sea as well as on land and in the air.
For commercial shipping, phased array antennas are expected to play a key role in expanding access to multi-orbit connectivity, allowing operators to integrate LEO, MEO and GEO services for use either concurrently or as the situation requires.
The acquisition provides Requtech with additional resources to scale deployment across wider markets, the companies said, while continuing to operate under its own brand.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
