China LNG Shipping (CLSICO) has signed a 15-year lifecycle agreement with Wärtsilä that will see the company introduce digital predictive maintenance across three of its LNG carriers.
The deal covers the Al TUWAR, Al MAS’HABIYYAH and FAT’H AL KHAIR, each 300m in length with a cargo capacity of 174,000 m³, and powered by Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines. The vessels are jointly owned by CLSICO and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), with MOL responsible for their operation and technical management.
Through the agreement, CLSICO will deploy Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight system, which uses real-time engine data and analytics to support predictive maintenance and dynamic maintenance planning.
The platform allows operators to monitor asset condition, predict potential problems before they occur, and optimise overhaul intervals. CLSICO expects the new system to improve reliability and reduce unplanned maintenance costs through access to continuous remote support.
“With the LNG ship transportation industry chain entering a period of rapid development, we are committed to operating our LNG ships safely, reliably and efficiently,” said Andrew Johnston, General Manager, CLSICO.
“Wärtsilä’s Lifecycle Agreements play an important role here, ensuring we continue to optimise the operations and maintenance of our vessels more effectively.”
