Zeabuz has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Czech space technology company Zaitra to explore how space-based intelligence can be integrated with maritime autonomy.
Zaitra develops on-satellite AI systems that process data directly in orbit, to move from raw observations to actionable intelligence without the need for ground-based processing, while Zeabuz provides modular autonomy systems designed for efficient vessel operations.
The partnership will examine how Zaitra’s satellite analytics can be used to scan large maritime areas and automatically detect and classify suspicious activity. When potential threats are identified, data could be transmitted directly to Zeabuz-powered unmanned surface vessels (USVs), which would autonomously deploy to the location to verify and gather additional information.
“By exploring the possibility of integrating Zaitra’s orbital intelligence capabilities with our robust autonomy platform, we could offer the market a seamless chain of detection, response, and evaluation for maritime threats,” said Øyvind Smogeli, CEO of Zeabuz.
“This is a strategic step towards realising multi-domain, autonomous maritime operations and expanding how autonomy can support critical defence and security missions.”
