The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) has established its first spinout company, Nautonomy Ltd, to accelerate the commercialisation of autonomous and intelligent maritime technologies.
Nautonomy will focus on developing and deploying systems for autonomous vessel operations, marine monitoring and maritime security, aiming to strengthen Cyprus’s position as a regional centre for marine innovation.
The company will design and build technology entirely in Cyprus, supporting national efforts to enhance technological independence and develop dual-use applications for both commercial and defence sectors.
“The creation of Nautonomy Ltd is a milestone for CMMI and for Cyprus,” said Zacharias Siokouros, CEO of CMMI.
“It demonstrates our ability not only to generate world-class research, but also to translate that knowledge into tangible, market-ready solutions that bring economic, social, and environmental value.”
