GT Wings secures investment from Grieg Kapital

GT Wings, the UK-based developer of the AirWing Jet Sail system, reports that it has raised a new investment round led by Grieg Kapital to scale its wind-assisted propulsion technology for commercial shipping.

Blackfinch Ventures and One Planet Capital also took part in the funding round. GT Wings says the investment will support manufacturing readiness and strengthen its global supply chain as demand for wind propulsion increases under new regulatory pressures.

The AirWing system, described as a high energy-density wind-propulsion technology, is designed to offer high thrust performance with minimal deck impact.

GT Wings says that it aims to accelerate commercial deployments with strategic partners as newbuild commitments increase and shipowners investigate retrofit options across multiple segments.

“GT Wings’ strength lies not only in the solution but in the team behind it – drawing on cutting-edge aero- and hydrodynamic engineering backgrounds from F1, America’s Cup, and leading maritime and industrial companies, giving them the depth needed to scale AirWing,” said Jon Gjøsund, Grieg Kapital.
