Stolt Tankers trials AI navigation platform in the Port of Rotterdam

Stolt Tankers has completed a trial of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered maritime navigation system in partnership with Seadronix and Radio Holland, the first European application of the Seadronix Port-to-Port AI platform, designed to automate and streamline communication between vessels and port terminals.

The technology connects independent onboard systems, terminal operations, and remote fleet monitoring to support integrated data exchange

As part of the deployment, Stolt Tankers installed the Naviss Bridge system on two of its vessels, which provides the crew with 360-degree situational awareness information and automated collision risk alerts. On shore, the company used the Naviss Hub to perform remote fleet monitoring and navigation risk analysis.

The trial also integrated the Aviss system at the Botlek terminal in the Port of Rotterdam, which monitors personnel and vessel movements to provide predictive data for berthing and departure scheduling.

“This project fulfils our Port-to-Port AI vision,” said Park Byeol To, CEO of Seadronix.

“Partnering with Stolt Tankers B.V. adds significant value, and we’re eager to work with global partners to advance smart autonomous maritime operations.”

The companies plan to further investigate how the platform can align with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) Code, a regulatory framework being developed to guide the evolution of autonomous technology within the global shipping industry.
