CMA CGM to deploy OneWeb LEO across global fleet

CMA CGM Group has announced a partnership with Marlink and Eutelsat to roll out OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity across its international shipping fleet, a deal that will see the technology installed on more than 300 vessels over the next nine months.

The system integrates Eutelsat OneWeb services with existing LEO and GEO networks to create a hybrid network architecture. Marlink’s XChange NextGen edge platform will be used to manage automatic selection of the different network options on board.

“Through this partnership, CMA CGM continues to strengthen its global connectivity framework in support of reliable and secure maritime operations,” said Ramon Fernandez, Executive Vice President Chief Finance Officer at CMA CGM Group.

“The integration of OneWeb’s LEO services contributes to the robustness of our fleet-wide connectivity, supporting operational efficiency and crew welfare.”

CMA CGM operates a fleet of more than 650 vessels and has been an anchor shareholder in Eutelsat since 2022.
