Finnish maritime software company Seaber has announced an expanded partnership with Sedna to integrate Seaber’s AI-powered optimisation engine with Sedna VMS (formerly Dataloy VMS). The collaboration aims to close the gap between commercial chartering decisions and fleet-wide scheduling for bulk and tanker operators.
By connecting the two platforms, live voyage and fixture data from Sedna VMS will flow directly into Seaber’s optimisation engine. This allows users to test fleet schedules against real-time constraints and identify options to improve Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) earnings.
“By connecting Seaber’s optimisation engine with Sedna VMS, we are enabling a continuous flow of data from commercial decision-making to operational execution. This is how shipping companies will compete and win in the years ahead,” said Sebastian Sjöberg, Co-founder and CEO of Seaber.
By sourcing data directly from the VMS, scheduling decisions can reflect commercial changes much more quickly, with the combined system intended to provide a single version of the truth for both commercial and operations teams.
Seaber claims that this level of optimisation can deliver fleet cost savings of four to six per cent.
“The industry does not need more standalone tools. It needs workflows that connect,” said Bill Dobie, Founder and CEO of Sedna.
“By linking chartering decisions with fleet-wide optimisation through our integration with Seaber, we are helping customers move from reactive planning to continuous decision-making.”
The integration is now available for deployment to joint customers.
