Brim Explorer to implement docking assist system fleetwide

Brim Explorer has entered a partnership with Zeabuz to deploy the Zeawatch Docking Assist system across its fleet. The first installation is scheduled for the MS Bre in the third quarter of 2026.

The system is designed to increase docking precision by providing situational awareness information through the use of cameras and 4D radar. This technology provides a real-time, dynamic view of the surroundings of the vessel, including areas not visible from the bridge.

“For us, ZeaWatch Docking Assist is a natural next step in making our operation safer, smarter and more reliable,” said Espen Larsen-Hakkebo, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Brim Explorer.

“By giving our captains better situational awareness during docking, especially in tight harbours, darkness and challenging conditions, the system will help improve safety for both passengers and crew, while reducing contact damage and the operational downtime that can follow.”

Following the initial deployment, the system will be expanded across the fleet, including vessels currently on order. The technology is designed for scalable retrofit across existing vessels.

“The ability to retrofit these capabilities onto existing vessels is key to accelerating adoption and will be invaluable as we move towards a safer and more sustainable future,” said Øyvind Smogeli, Chief Executive Officer at Zeabuz.

The deployment marks the first use of the system in active operations.
