NOSCO Shipyard in Quang Ninh, Vietnam, has taken delivery of more than 20 hydroblasting robots and integrated support systems from Chinese company RobotPlusPlus.
The technology provided with the robots includes ultra-high-pressure pumps and wastewater recovery equipment, which will allow the yard to transition from conventional manual blasting to robotic ultra-high-pressure water jetting.
The HighMate-series systems are designed for ship hull surface preparation and cargo hold cleaning. The robots can achieve a production rate of 30 to 50 square metres per hour, which the company says is approximately eight to nine times more productive than manual methods.
Additionally, the wastewater recovery system can collect more than 99% of wastewater and paint residues.
“The adoption of modern equipment is essential to improving productivity, protecting the environment and ensuring operational safety,” said Mr Hung, Vice Director of NOSCO Shipyard.
“These systems are practical tools that will help us optimise workflows, improve surface quality, reduce manual labour and create a safer, more environmentally responsible shipyard.”
To support the project, RobotPlusPlus is working with local partners in Vietnam to provide technical assistance and long-term maintenance.
