Marine technology developer Fleetzero, shipbuilder Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors, and naval architecture firm Glosten have announced a collaboration to accelerate the development and deployment of integrated autonomous vessel platforms.
The partnership between the US firms pairs Fleetzero’s marine power and autonomy systems with Thoma-Sea’s shipbuilding capacity and Glosten’s vessel design and marine engineering expertise to support commercial maritime, government, and defence customers.
The three companies are developing an integrated autonomous diesel-electric vessel that incorporates Fleetzero’s Leviathan Battery Energy Storage System, propulsion technologies, and autonomy stack into hulls built by Thoma-Sea and designed by Glosten. The angular, low-profile design draws inspiration from stealth vessels currently used by military forces.
The system targets a range of operational needs, including autonomous and remotely operated cargo operations, as well as surveillance and reconnaissance.
“By partnering with Thoma-Sea and Glosten, we are pairing our Leviathan Energy Storage Systems and Fleetzero’s autonomy stack with two of the most capable shipbuilding and design organisations in the country. This is how we can deliver MOSA (Modular Open Systems Approach)-compliant, autonomous vessels at scale,” said Steven Henderson, Chief Executive Officer of Fleetzero.
The initiative follows a period of financial growth for Fleetzero, which closed a US$43 million Series A funding round in 2025. The company is backed by technology and shipping investors including 8090 Industries, Y Combinator, Founders Fund, Obvious Ventures, Maersk Growth, and MOL Plus.
