Mapsea has partnered with KT, KT SAT, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and Pohang City in Korea to develop an integrated maritime AI platform, named the Ocean AI Foundry, to support the development of maritime-specialised AI models.
The agreement also includes a focus on the development of Arctic shipping routes through the integration of communication infrastructure, satellite tracking, and maritime data.

“Mapsea will actively participate in developing maritime-specialised AI models and demonstration projects to ensure research achievements transition successfully into the commercial industry.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the participating organisations will collaborate on AI-based route analysis, satellite-based ocean monitoring, and digital twin demonstration projects using local infrastructure, including Pohang’s Yeongilman Port.
Mapsea will oversee platform planning, service model development, and the commercialisation of application systems based on maritime data, alongside field testing.
The company currently provides digital twin systems connecting ships and land through its mapsea NAVIGATION system and mapsea CONNECT real-time vessel monitoring platform.
Mapsea has already received an Approval in Principle (AIP) from the Korean Register (KR) for its digital twin-based ship navigation support platform, and is the first South Korean company to sign an official partnership with maritime risk management organisation RightShip.
