Hexagon has agreed to acquire UK-based maritime positioning sensor manufacturer Guidance Marine, the companies have announced.
Guidance Marine’s radar, laser, vision and microwave-based sensors measure a vessel’s position relative to offshore platforms, wind turbines, quaysides and other vessels, supporting station-keeping and manoeuvring close to fixed and floating assets. It generated revenues of approximately €22 million in the financial year ended 31 December 2025.
The company’s equipment is used in offshore energy, marine construction, port and harbour operations and naval applications, and is integrated with major Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems.
Guidance Marine’s relative positioning technology is intended to complement Hexagon’s existing GNSS, positioning correction, anti-jamming and assured positioning capabilities.
“We’re excited to welcome the team at Guidance Marine to Hexagon. Their capabilities will expand the range of positioning capabilities available across our marine business,” said Gordon Dale, President, Autonomous Solutions Business Area, Hexagon.
Completion of the transaction is expected by the end of 2026, after which Guidance Marine will become part of Hexagon’s NovAtel Positioning Division within its Autonomous Solutions Business Area. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
