CIDO Shipping to deploy autonomous system on 20 PCTCs

CIDO Shipping is to deploy Avikus’ HiNAS Control autonomous navigation and digital operation system across 20 LNG dual-fuel 7,600 CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) currently under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI).

The vessels are scheduled for delivery from 2027, with the agreement also providing for potential deployment on a further 12 vessels planned as part of the same newbuilding programme.

CIDO Shipping will adopt the HiNAS Control Smart Standard package, which is designed to support voyage optimisation, operational decision-making and fleet-wide visibility.

The agreement extends a longstanding relationship between CIDO Shipping and AVikus’ parent company HD Hyundai, with the firms having worked together on 107 newbuilding projects across multiple vessel segments.

The HiNAS Control deployment will form part of CIDO Shipping’s fleet renewal programme for LNG dual-fuel PCTCs, with the system to be installed progressively across the newbuilding series.

“CIDO Shipping has been one of HD Hyundai’s most trusted and longstanding partners across multiple generations of newbuilding projects,” said Kang Jae Ho, Chief Executive Officer of Avikus.

“We are pleased to expand that relationship into autonomous navigation and digital operation technologies through HiNAS Control. Together, we look forward to delivering practical operational value and supporting CIDO Shipping’s next-generation fleet operations.”
