Norwegian ferry and express boat operator Norled is to implement UniSea’s fleet management system across its 80-vessel fleet, extending its existing use of UniSea HSEQ to cover maintenance, procurement, dry docking, inspections and analytics.
Maintenance and Procurement will provide a common system for planned maintenance, component history, spare parts and purchasing, with requisitions raised from maintenance jobs flowing into the procurement process.
The additional modules will also connect dry-docking and inspection activities with vessel maintenance records, allowing inspection findings to be converted into work orders and docking work to be linked to the vessel’s maintenance history.
“For us it’s critically important to have the reality and the needs of the users onboard front-and-centre as we make our choice of systems,” said Arnulf Bie, Head of Technical Operations and Maintenance at Norled.
The integration of the modules will provide fleet-wide access to maintenance status, procurement expenditure and docking and inspection information using the same underlying data.
“Changing a business-critical system in any organisation is a big deal. We have done a broad screening of solutions and providers in the market before making our decision,” said Lisbeth E. Skogland, Head of Digital at Norled.
Norled operates ferry and express boat services along the Norwegian coast from the Oslofjord to Troms and has around 1,000 employees.
