Newport completes fleet-wide rollout of visual monitoring system

Newport has completed the fleet-wide deployment of M2INTELLIGENCE’s GVMS visual monitoring system, giving shore-based teams live and recorded access to information from onboard operations.

The system allows Newport’s teams to remotely monitor vessel areas and activities, review operational events and incidents, and support troubleshooting, inspections and training.

“We are particularly pleased to see forward-looking shipping companies such as Newport recognising how quickly the way vessels are monitored and managed is evolving,” said Thomas Asproudis, Co-Founder, Innovation & Business Development at M2INTELLIGENCE.

GVMS provides the infrastructure for M2INTELLIGENCE’s M2AI application, which combines camera information with vessel and operational data to support automated detection and alerts, operational and compliance indicators, and fleet-level trends and benchmarking.

The company says this enables operators to move from monitoring vessel activity remotely towards identifying events and conditions requiring attention.
