Singapore Civil Defence Force completes tests of AI navigation system

Seadronix reports that it has completed real-world validation of its NAVISS Compact AI situational awareness system on a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vessel.

The project included demonstrations of automated object recognition, collision-avoidance alerts and LiDAR-based sensor fusion to generate AI-recommended berthing paths.

The system was also tested during night operations and vessel-to-vessel mooring to assess performance in restricted-visibility scenarios.

NAVISS Compact is an adapted version of the standard NAVISS system designed for vessels under 100GT, with a smaller sensor footprint and an integrated micro server to accommodate limited onboard space. Seadronix says the technology is aimed at supporting situational awareness and precision manoeuvring on small vessels operating with reduced manning.

The company notes that it has already completed installations of NAVISS Compact on crew transfer vessels and is expanding deployments across public-sector fleets, building on earlier work with fisheries guidance and research vessels.
