ABS in Akselos digital twin partnership

Classification society ABS has announced a partnership with digital twin specialist Akselos to apply Akselos’ technologies for large scale object modelling to maritime and offshore assets, for simulation of operational performance in real time.

ABS says that it intends to apply Akselos’ patented Reduced Basis FEA (Finite Element Analysis) systems in the creation of new digital twins for maritime assets, to remove some of the limitations previously experienced in high fidelity modelling of large-scale assets in real time using existing techniques.

“Leveraging Akselos’ capabilities to benefit the maritime and offshore industries is another example of how ABS continues to lead industry innovation,” said Matt Tremblay, ABS Senior Vice President of Global Offshore.

“Digitisation and connectivity is transforming maritime and offshore and ABS is at the forefront, helping clients capitalise on the potential of these technologies to operate more safely, securely and responsibly.”
