Navarino has announced the launch of GSM Connect, its new GSM data service for maritime offering speeds of up to 100Mbps to vessels travelling within range of shore networks.
GSM Connect delivers a mobile data-only service to be used by vessels sailing close to the coast, or in anchorage and during ship operations in port.
The company says that data services can be accessed via an LTE/4G/3G signal “several kilometres” from shore with line of sight, which depends on the vessel’s position and the distance between the shipboard antenna and the cellular antenna location ashore.
The GSM Connect package includes hardware, network access, and management tools. The main component is a 3-Modem eSIM router, which offers global compatibility with local LTE/4G/3G networks around the world without the need to use and manage physical SIM cards.
The router provides access to more than 20 eSIMs from leading global LTE carriers, Navarino says.
