Hamburg Süd adds online container booking

Hamburg Süd has launched a digital application for online container booking, allowing users to fix prices and book cargo up to four weeks prior to the planned shipment.

The company says that users of the application, named INSTANT, will receive a of space for their cargo on the selected connection, with early bookings also enjoying lower pricing as subsequent price changes or additional fees will no longer apply.

“With INSTANT, booking a container will be just as easy and fast as booking a flight online – you only need a few clicks,” said Frank Smet, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Hamburg Süd.

“With it, we are creating a smart digital complement to the personal customer service that Hamburg Süd customers are used to.”

INSTANT is now available for Hamburg Süd services between the east coast of South America and Europe or Asia as well as between Asia and Oceania, and will gradually be extended to more trades in the future, the company says.
