Stolt Tankers to upgrade connectivity environment on 83 vessels

Stolt Tankers has agreed a new deal with Marlink to upgrade its vessel communications bandwidth and onboard hardware, extending a relationship between the companies that stretches back to 2011.

Under the new agreement Stolt’s fleet of 83 chemical and parcel tankers will have faster onboard connectivity, delivered using version 5.0 of Marlink’s XChange communications management system.

A new 4G connectivity option will also be added to the service package, as well as a VPN to shoreside operation centres to streamline organisational data sharing.

“It’s a real acknowledgement to have been selected to remain as Stolt Tankers’ global satellite service provider and to take their data communications framework into tomorrow,” said Tore Morten Olsen, President Maritime, Marlink.

“Stolt is an operator with the very highest standards of safety and transparency and our services will continue to provide the foundations of its business strategy for years to come.”
