Maritime connectivity company shipznet has expanded its portfolio to add a new remote vessel support system, with handsfree hardware from Kiber.
The shipznet RG 300 remote guidance package, which provides mobile broadband connectivity up to 300 Mbps for vessels within 60km of shore, will be extended with the addition of the Kiber 3 Kit, a rugged head-mounted device with a binocular visor, along with a handheld camera with thermal imaging.
The equipment is designed for use by service technicians on board ships, connecting them with remote experts on shore and allowing for instant video conferencing at the scene, as well as data and document exchange capabilities.
The internet hardware and the wearable head-mounted camera and screen can be brought to the specific site required in a carry case, and shipznet says that the system will still provide connectivity in the deepest areas of the ship, surrounded by steel and closed bulkheads.
