Lloyd’s Register company i4 Insight, a fleet data analytics provider, has formed an alliance with BunkerEx to incorporate optimised bunker planning data into the i4 Insight platform.
The addition of BunkerEx data will be used to improve voyage and operational efficiency analysis to assist users in optimising fleet performance.
BunkerEx data provides recommendations for bunker purchasing based on real-time price data, processing thousands of potential bunker options that combine distances with fuel availability and pricing for each location. In addition, the system lists any additional charges to take note of, such as barge fees, calling costs and port charges.
“We know fuel costs take up a large percentage of a ship’s operating costs,” said Joel Meltzner, i4 Insight Chief Executive Officer.
“We have formed an alliance with BunkerEx to obtain live pricing data and fuel availability from ports around the world to be incorporated into our platform. We’re excited to bring more new products to the market very soon.”
The move follows the recent acquisition of C-MAP by Lloyd’s Register, as well as new commercial and partnership agreements between i4 Insight and other maritime players including Greensteam, FNT and Laros, as the class society ramps up its data analysis and digital services capabilities.
