ONE to expand use of StormGeo routing systems to whole 250-vessel fleet

Container shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has agreed a new partnership with weather intelligence firm StormGeo for the provision of a range of additional ship routing services to support improved vessel performance.

The companies initially began working together in July 2019. Based on ONE’s internal evaluations of the benefits gained from implementing its initial StormGeo systems it has now been decided to expand the partnership to include enhanced routing, ETA services for sensitive trade routes, and installation of the s-Planner BVS onboard software across ONE’s 250-strong fleet.

“StormGeo’s products and services are an essential part of our onboard and onshore operations. Having access to weather forecasts specific to our voyages helps us manage our strict ETAs with a focus on safety and fuel efficiency,” said Sachin Sirsikar, General Manager Global Vessel Operations at ONE.

“In a time of digitalisation and sustainability within shipping, we are proud to partner with a company who prioritises these values as much as we do.”

The partnership was announced just a day after StormGeo confirmed that its private equity owners EQT have agreed a deal to sell the company to Alfa Laval for some $440 million.
