U-MING Marine Transport Corporation’s Fleet Safety Management (FSM) system, co-developed with technology company Ericsson, has been granted Innovation Endorsement for Products & Solutions certification by class society ClassNK
This certification class was developed in 2020 to establish appropriate evaluation criteria for newly developed technologies. Among the certification categories, Products & Solutions covers digital equipment and software technology installed for use on vessels.
U-MING’s FSM system collects near real-time information on vessels to support crew and operations personnel in managing navigation, safety, and engine performance, all centrally linked though an on-shore Fleet Operations Centre.
The software advises vessels on selecting the most efficient route plans to reduce fuel consumption and minimise the impact of severe weather, while also helping to improve overall teamwork between shore-side operations managers and crews at sea.
