Hansa Tankers to roll out StormGeo performance software across fleet

Norwegian pool operator Hansa Tankers has partnered with StormGeo to roll out the s-Insight fleet performance management software package to the more than 50 chemical tanker vessels in its pool.

The tanker firm will use the system to establish a unified data collection system that enables the pool and its partners to document and assess the environmental performance of their vessels. Voyage data will be transferred in real-time to support improved bunker management, reducing CO2 emissions from the fleet.

“StormGeo’s s-Insight provides tools that assist us in managing the environmental and commercial performance of our entire fleet in one dashboard,” said Torfin Eide, COO at Hansa Tankers.

“By also adding weather and routing data to the operator decision-making toolbox, we gain new and actionable insights that enable immediate, measurable CO2 impact on our trade, which in turn will positively enhance the pool’s financial performance and environmental footprint in the coming years.”

s-Insight integrates and organises weather, voyage reporting, sensor data, performance levers, and expert assistance in one analytics tool, combined with a reporting system to ensure that the fleet is always compliant with regulations like EU MRV, IMO DCS, the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), and Sea Cargo Charter.

The software also includes a new CII Simulator that monitors CII compliance status and reveals the impact of commercial parameters on CII ratings.

“StormGeo’s powerful and actionable CII Simulator gives us a tool enabling a better understanding of the commercial impact of the CII in our trades,” Mr Eide says.

“We acknowledge that the earlier we integrate CII simulation into our daily operations and decision making, the better we can manage the impact on CII performance and thereby enhance our competitive advantage in the market.”

In related news, StormGeo has also announced the release of a new Carbon Footprint Dashboard for s-Insight users, compiling all relevant data in one place to monitor decarbonisation metrics, set carbon intensity targets, and streamline regulatory reporting processes.

Pre-configured widgets provide graphs and diagrams to visualise the carbon footprint of all shipping activities. The system calculates and displays various CO2 emission indicators for fleets, vessel subgroups, and individual vessels for each leg of the voyage.

“The Carbon Footprint Dashboard provides a single source of all CO2 emissions data. It gives access to the analytics necessary to review the impact of implemented measures, identify corrective actions, and report on carbon intensity alignment with industry trajectories to internal and external stakeholders,” said Madeleine Engelhardt, Product Manager, Fleet Compliance and Technical Performance at StormGeo.

“The dashboard helps shipping companies focus on the decarbonisation metrics that matter.”

The Carbon Footprint Dashboard will be released in October 2022 and will be available for all s-Insight route advisory and fleet performance management customers.
