Unigas to work with MariApps on digital platform development

Gas carrier operator Unigas has agreed a deal with maritime software firm MariApps to act as a development partner in the construction of customised data collection, visualisation and analytics capabilities for its new in-house digital platform ‘The Unigas Compass’.

The new system will build on MariApps’ existing smartPAL offering, introducing additional elements aimed at improving the company’s real-time reporting and creating optimisation opportunities across the Unigas fleet.

“Through our sustainability project ‘Wake’ (named after the surface waves generated by a moving vessel) we are working hard to put our deep technical experience to good use,” said Alex Graham, CEO at Unigas.

“The development of the ‘Unigas Compass’ is an exciting step for us all on this journey, as digital evolution is critical to our commitment to offering more sustainable shipping solutions to our customers.”

“Visualising our impact is a critical building block to unlocking improvements and affecting real change. By working closely with our customers and industry peers we can make shipping a more sustainable and circular model.”

The digital infrastructure will also offer online access to fleet information, providing both vessel and shore-based staff with new tools to make data-driven decisions.

“MariApps is glad to collaborate with Unigas on this ambitious project, where we will create a custom platform to meet the fleet’s needs for vessel performance.  The customised web-based platform will significantly improve energy efficiency across Unigas’s fleet and result in significant cost savings once it is fully implemented,” said Sankar Ragavan, CEO of MariApps.
