Netherlands-based VSAT provider Castor Marine has announced the addition of Starlink satcom services to its portfolio, after reaching an agreement to become an Authorised Starlink Reseller.

The deal will see Castor offer SD-WAN automatic and dynamic switching between Starlink, VSAT, Iridium, FleetBroadband and 4G/5G LTE services implemented onboard ships.

“Our customers expect us to stay ahead of the curve and provide them with the best connectivity solution technically available in the market,” said Ivo Veldkamp, Castor Marine CEO.

“We foresee a shift in the market with customers switching from VSAT and 4G/5G connectivity to Starlink with VSAT as back-up. Adding Starlink to our portfolio of services enables Castor to create the optimal connectivity solution, not only for the maritime industry, but also for our NGO and enterprise customers.”

The Starlink Maritime package consists of two flat panel antennas, with the system able to be monitored and managed remotely from a digital portal. Castor Marine notes that it has already seen interest from customers in the yachting, offshore, container and tanker industries for the service.
