IINO Kaiun Kaisha to invest in maritime start-ups with theDOCK and Trail Mix Ventures

IINO Kaiun Kaisha (IINO) in Japan has announced investments into two maritime funds, managed by Israel based venture capital (VC) firm theDOCK and Trail Mix Ventures (TMV) of New York respectively, to support new businesses displaying promising potential in the field of maritime innovation.

IINO’s shipping business includes the operation of a fleet of oil, chemical and gas tankers, as well as dry bulk carriers.

The Japanese firm says that it aims to work with the funds to identify technologies that will improve its own operations while also contributing to the development of technologies that address industry challenges, such as the drive for carbon neutrality by 2050.

theDOCK is focused on start-ups in the maritime, supply chain, and offshore sectors, primarily in its home country of Israel. TMV invests mainly in logistics firms, including maritime businesses, as well as start-ups aimed at providing services for sustainability, healthcare and fintech.
