SMITCO container terminal completes TOS upgrade

Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO), a container terminal operator based in Santa Marta, Colombia, has gone live with its new TOS (terminal operating system), Tideworks Technology’s Mainsail 10.

SMITCO successfully upgraded from Tideworks’ legacy Mainsail system, deployed in 2009, to the new software, offering more flexibility, third-party integration capabilities, and increased visibility to improve decision-making.

“SMITCO moves the third largest cargo volume in Colombia, making it essential for us to have technology that streamlines operations and helps us evolve to meet the needs of the global supply chain,” said Juanita del Castillo, general manager of SMITCO.

“We value our collaboration with Tideworks. With Mainsail 10, we can increase cargo flow, reduce costs, and manage operations in a more effective and productive way.”

Alongside Mainsail 10, SMITCO also utilises applications including Spinnaker Planning Management System and Traffic Control, Forecast web portal and EDI Porter, which were also deployed by Tideworks in 2009.
