MAN-ES to integrate Spire AIS and weather data into machinery monitoring

MAN Energy Solutions (MAN-ES) has agreed a new partnership with space-based data company Spire Global for the provision of weather data and real-time automatic identification system (AIS) vessel-tracking data for integration into its marine equipment monitoring services.

MAN-ES will use the AIS and weather data within its PrimeServ Assist system, a monitoring and advisory tool for the optimisation of marine equipment including large-bore engines and turbomachinery. The integration aims to provide customers with improved performance, maintenance scheduling and decarbonisation insights.

Spire will also work with MAN-ES on the development of additional AI models to analyse engine data and create more cost-efficient operational profiles for its customers.

“Our driving strategy at MAN Energy Solutions revolves around ‘moving big things to zero,’ which means we aim to help decarbonise key sectors of the global economy through systems that bring down emissions that have been historically hard to abate,” said Gregory Puckett, Chief Digital Officer of MAN Energy Solutions.

“The enrichment of our product data with Spire’s AIS and weather data will unlock further optimisation for our products, and further our goal to improve engine performance and decarbonisation.”
