FAIMM to deploy new simulator systems

Fondazione Accademia Italiana della Marina Mercantile (FAIMM), a specialist maritime training academy based in Genova, Italy, has partnered with Kongsberg Digital for the delivery of a range of new simulator systems for use in its training programmes.

The simulator package includes a DNV Class A K-Sim Navigation/Offshore Jack up simulator, which integrates with Kongsberg Maritime’s Dynamic Positioning System, K-POS. Additionally, FAIMM will have access to a DNV Class B Offshore Crane simulator for crane operator training.

The K-Sim Engine and K-Sim Cargo Full Mission and Desktop Simulator System will also be provided, sharing the same hardware for both full mission and classroom configurations to allow for flexibility in training delivery.

FAIMM will have access to Kongsberg Digital’s K-Sim Tools for model development and database creation, installed on separate operating stations to allow the training centre to create its own high-definition models and 3D exercise areas for customised training.

“We are excited to collaborate with Kongsberg Digital to enhance our training and research capabilities,” said Dr Paola Vidotto, FAIMM.

“The advanced simulation systems and comprehensive support services provided by Kongsberg Digital will enable us to offer cutting-edge training programmes that prepare our students for success in the maritime industry.”
